Schinella's Your Local Market is a Prospect institution and a real Adelaide family story. Brothers Luke and Michael Schinella now run the business their Nonno Michele started after migrating from Southern Italy and opening a fruit and veg store in Broken Hill. The family moved to Adelaide in 1985 and settled at the Prospect Road site in 1994.
Today the market floor brings together fresh fruit and vegetables, an artisan continental bakery and patisserie, a traditional Italian deli, a florist and a full commercial kitchen where chefs prepare take-home meals, salads and heat-and-eat options. The brothers credit much of the market's pull to its resident butcher, who stocks some of the best quality meat in South Australia.
